Professor Novak is the biology teacher who always wears the same crooked tie and always has the same ruffled hair and deep morning voice. He’s pretty quiet and gentle, but if you mistreat any of the animals in his room he’ll be terrifying. His room is filled with plants and animals. He has ferns and ivy hanging from the ceiling and flowers on the lab desks. Even though he’ll never say it out loud, the bees are his favorite of the animals, he hates how people think of them as pests, and he sees how important they actually are.
He always shows up to class holding an apple pie, missing one slice, in one hand, and his mug of coffee in the other. The mug says ‘save the bees’ and it has a honeycomb pattern. He’ll give the students a little pie sometimes, but then they get straight to work. His room always smells like a mix of honey and apple pie. It’s a calming environment, and some students like to stop by between classes, or work in his room during study period. He’s popular among the more shy students, or the ones with anxiety, as he’s very understanding with them. He’ll find a way to measure their class participation grade so that they aren’t marked off for being quiet, or being scared of speaking up in class.
Professor Winchester is almost the opposite. He’s very outgoing and loud, he makes lots of jokes in class, some funny, some not. Almost every girl, and even some boys, have had a crush on him at some point. He’s the engineering teacher, and he makes sure nobody slacks off in class. He’s not afraid to call people out on mistakes, or snap at the class jerk. He’s very fond of his ‘baby,’ his car. He was a mechanic before he was a teacher, and he likes to do a lot of hands-on classwork. Whereas Professor Novak would maybe play some quiet, calm guitar music during class, Dean would play metallica or ACDC. He always showed up to class a little late as well, holding a plate with a slice of apple pie on it in his hand.
Sometimes students would see Dean and Cas around campus, walking a bit closer together than most friends do, and allowing their hands to brush together without drawing away. Their gazes always lingered a little long during conversation, and they always stood very close. The students would make bets on how long it would be until one of them finally made a move, and who it would be. It was actually Castiel who did, in the second quarter of the school year. Dean walked into his room that day with a smile on his face, and blush staining his freckles cheeks. His usual plate of pie was in his hand, but it had a little note towards the side of the plate. The class put two and two together, and when the professor left the classroom to print another copy of a handout that he didn’t have enough of, one student went up to his desk and read the note. It said 'Be Mine?’ In neat cursive letters, and it had a small bumble bee drawn next to it. From then on, Castiel and Dean held hands when they walked around campus, as they hadn’t allowed themselves to before. Some students would still flirt with Dean, but Castiel didn’t mind. He knew that Dean was his.
